As the Technical Developer, your primary mission is to create and commercialize product and ensuring it is meeting our established standards for fit and construction supported by lab and wear-testing.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate development of spec packages in excel, PDF or PLM and hand-off to factory partner for initial prototypes and development through to pre-production samples
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Develop all PLM technical info - BOM, spec sheets, grading and other information for prototypes, production, and special makes
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Understand design fit and styling intent and effectively collaborate to transfer to Kit and Ace costumer
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Work closely with the Design and Product team to develop quality products in accordance with Kit and Ace standards
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Working closely with Sourcing Manager to develop construction methods that are efficient for production and cost effective while maintaining design integrity
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Continuously streamline design processes and procedures that will facilitate final design integrity, accurate fit and appropriate margin
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Measure all garments following Kit and Ace internal manual, while ensuring brand integrity, and size and fit consistency within product category
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Lead fit meeting on live model and critique for fit and styline
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Proactively recommend solutions that will ensure design intent, fit, quality, timelines and cost are met
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Communicate sample and pattern requirements to factory using photos, fit comments, tech packs, blocks and patterns, video conference etc.
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Prioritize and maintain production deadlines of completed patterns and finalized spec sheets
  • Approve proto sample lifecycle with factory partner
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Approve graded nest pattern in PPS stage for grading
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
  • Track and manage workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met
  • Research and present design insights and inspiration, with a focus on function
Competencies:
  • 3+ years’ experience in apparel industry in a Technical Developer capacity
  • Knowledgeable of high quality garment construction, stitches, and factory production methods & best industry
  • Drawing, flat sketching, or Illustrator experience required
  • Expertise in patternmaking including grading, construction and fit for multiple or complex product
  • Experience in interpreting design sketches into tech packs required
  • Experience in interpreting design fit direction into tech packs and direction to factories required
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented and experienced in proactive problem solving
  • Effective verbal and written technical communication skills required
  • Effective use: o Illustrator, MS Office, PDM experience, Optitex knowledge is a plus
  • Ability to be flexible in a multiple-task environment with a sense of urgency to meet development and production timelines
  • Team player to step into this challenging role and be confident at building good internal and external relationships
  • Collaborative, egoless, adaptable, open to possibility and personal development
