Optimist Outlook | Edition 7 | October 2022
Welcome to the Optimist’s Outlook, Edition 07 — our quarterly communique with updates on how Optimism is coming to life in our design studio, through our partnerships, and via community collaborations to give back.
In honour of September being our [un]official Optimism Month, we’re dropping this issue a bit early. Read on for an extra hot-offthe press recap of the last quarter, plus the inside scoop on what’s to come.
It’s for you — our greatest muses and fellow Optimists — that we design, so in honour of all the inspiration you spark, we brought back our Optimist Appreciation Sale this September as an annual token of our gratitude.
“WE BROUGHT BACK OUR OPTIMIST APPRECIATION SALE THIS SEPTEMBER AS AN ANNUAL TOKEN OF OUR GRATITUDE.”
The faces behind the brand, the small joys that keep us inspired and make us smile, the songs that amp us up. All of this came together in our latest staff shoot for our upcoming Optimistically, Us Fall campaign, featuring our HQ and Shop teams. Keep your eyes on our site and social channels as we roll the campaign out, sharing the stories that make us Optimistically, Us.
Our community on social has been patiently awaiting our debut on TikTok, and we’re excited to announce that the time has come! Check us out @kitandace where we’ll be sharing expanded video content, behind the scenes insights, and sneak peeks of what we’re working on. We value every opportunity to connect with our online community and can’t wait to introduce you to more of the faces behind Kit and Ace. And who knows, you may just catch us jumping on a viral TikTok dance challenge…
Our friends over at Endy know a thing or two about comfort, so it seemed only fitting to partner with them on our latest giveaway. The July collaboration saw one lucky winner take home an Endy duvet and organic cotton sheet set plus our Good Feels Lounge Set, made from super soft Brushed French Terry. It’s a combination that warrants countless hits of the snooze button.
AMPED UP FOR THE AMPLIFIERS
Interest in our Amplifier Program has been overwhelming, and we’ve received so many inspiring applications from like-minded Optimists making waves of positive change. We’re in the process of selecting our first wave of Amplifiers and look forward to introducing them to our community.
THE POWER OF FILM
Mid-September saw the return of the annual Toronto International Film Festival after a pandemic hiatus, and we were there for it, thrilled to make our [tri-striped] mark in a small way by contributing Brushed French Terry pieces at the Bask-It-Style Gifting Lounge for media and attending actors. So many amazing Canadian brands participated in the kick-off event, creating a warm ‘welcome to Toronto’ with their swag bag contributions. The power of on-screen stories that connect us is undeniable, and it’s an honour to support TIFF’s cultural mission to transform the way people see the world, through film.
We think Keanu said it best:
“THE WHOLE ASPECT OF CINEMA AND FILM FESTIVALS SHOULD BE A MOMENT TO COME TOGETHER AND CELEBRATE ART AND HUMANITY.”
— KEANU REEVES
We wrapped up our Best Damn Pants campaign in late August, with a focus on around the clock versatility — highlighting pants that take you from morning coffee to evening cocktails and everything in between. The campaign also showcased a range of different cuts and silhouettes, plus more inclusive fits for pant styles both brand new and long loved.
FROM OFFICE TO OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
As the air turns crisp, our Fall product drops are in full swing, including office-ready styles that work way beyond 9-5. The Office Optimism collection features fabrics like Recycled Suiting with 4-way stretch and Recycled Ponte, which combines a polished finish with the comfort of your favourite sweatpants. These elevated looks will have you killing it in the boardroom with a lounging-on-the-couch level of comfort. Then layer up in insulating outerwear and the softest mid-layers for all the outdoor adventures. Lightweight vegan styles like the All Day Jacket and All Day Vest are better than feathers and back by popular demand.

IN THE DESIGN STUDIO
With coast-to-coast heat waves this Summer, we rode out the hottest days of the year with lightweight TENCEL™ Woven styles and cooling shirts and blouses in wrinkle-resistant poplin fabric made with temperature-regulating brrr° technology. Now as Fall marks the return to regular routines and office days, our product focus is on work-appropriate styles that transition with ease to everything else you’re up to this season.
Taking our guests’ product feedback to heart, we’ve also introduced a greater range of sizing in our Fall collection, with more relaxed fits to accommodate more body types. You’ll notice a new XXL size option in the men’s City Tech and Brushed French Terry shirts, as well as size 14 in women’s Recycled Suiting and Recycled Ponte pants, plus XXS in a few of our bestselling oversized tops for women.
And there’s no shortage of warm and breathable new pieces dropping this Fall and into the Winter. Cozy up in our latest Merino sweaters, shirts, and accessories — made as always with Non-Mulesed Certified Merino Wool that guarantees the ethical treatment of our source flocks.
